Health Consciousness:
Consumers are increasingly prioritizing nutritious, natural, and minimally processed foods due to concerns about obesity, chronic diseases, and overall well-being. These are more efficient produced in a food factory, with more efficiency and hygiene.
Convenience:
Busy lifestyles have led to greater demand for ready-to-eat meals, pre-packaged snacks, and on-the-go options, reflected in the popularity of meal delivery services and grab-and-go foods. Most of such meals are prepared in a food factory.
Food Delivery and Takeout:
The rise of food delivery platforms and mobile apps has transformed how people access food, with many opting for delivery or takeout options for convenience and affordability, accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Snacking Culture:
Snacking has become integral to modern food culture, with consumers seeking healthy and convenient options like nuts, fruits, and protein bars for frequent snacking throughout the day.
Personalization and Customization:
Consumers expect personalized food options that cater to their preferences, dietary restrictions, and health goals, leading to the rise of made-to-order meals and customizable meal kits.
Digitalization and Food Tech:
Technology has revolutionized the food industry, with innovations like food delivery apps and smart kitchen appliances reshaping how people buy, prepare, and consume food.
In General
The demand for food factory is expected to stay healthy because of:
- Increasing popularity of e-commerce
- Establishment of effective food delivery services
- Increase productivity and lower of cost in using central kitchen
- New food business strategy in using cloud kitchens.
Central Kitchen Singapore
Using Food Factory units as a Central Kitchen is one of the latest strategies that food manufacturer is embarking. Demand for them are increasing due to:
- Overall Food and Beverage labour crunch
- Tightly controlled food zones
- High rental at malls
- Economies of scale for small F&B establishments
- Sharp rise in new F&B business formations
- Government push for greater F&B productivity
Cloud Kitchen Singapore
When dining-in was restricted in April to June 2020, due to the Circuit Breaker, food business models emerged to offer direct delivery to clients' homes. Cloud Kitchens, which are centralised medium- to large-scale commercial kitchens made up of several small-scale identical modular kitchen units, grew as a result of this.
Each Cloud Kitchen is outfitted with the required processing equipment to support the production of ready-to-eat food products for direct delivery to consumers via online meal delivery platforms, with no direct retail or dine-in choices.
This trend will continue post-pandemic and food factory would serve to be a strong candidate to host cloud kitchens.
